MEZIPATRA | Bearcave

Enigmatic Argyro lives on a remote farm nestled in the enchanting Greek mountains. All she needs to be happy is her small herd of goats, dark beats in her headphones, and quirky best friend Anneta, the prettiest girl in the village. But their lifelong friendship suffers an unexpected blow. Anneta is pregnant and will soon be moving away. Can the girls come to terms with the separation, or will they dare to confront the true depth of their relationship? This fresh take on coming of age story avoids genre clichés, blending Balkan folklore, authentic performances, and a sultry summer romance. Special mention should also go to the film’s atmospheric cinematography which highlights the mystical beauty of the surrounding landscape. The feature debut by directing duo Stergios Dinopoulos and Krysianna Papadakis premiered at the Venice Film Festival, where it won the Europa Cinemas Label Award and was nominated for the Queer Lion.
