MEZIPATRA | Deeper Love: The Story of Miss Peppermint

Peppermint hardly needs an introduction: in 2017, she starred in RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 9 as the first openly trans woman to compete on the show. Less well-known, however, is her story of a performer and activist before her global success, or how she coped with losing to Sasha Velour. For a decade, director Oriel Pe’er accompanied her behind the scenes of New York clubs, into dressing rooms filled with glitter and wigs, hotel rooms, apartments, and all the way to Broadway. The result is an intimate portrait of a woman who embodies the motto “charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent”, while also openly navigating transition, financial troubles, uncertainty, and the search for love. This candid documentary takes us beyond Peppermint’s public persona and captures her determination to change the world for the better. An ambitious goal? Nobody should underestimate Miss Peppermint!
