To the Four Winds
To the Four Winds
(France, 2018, 101 min)
De Michel Toesca
Every month, thousands of refugees try to cross the Italian-French border in the Roya Valley in order to get to France or beyond. However, the French border guards repeatedly send them back to Italy and make it impossible for them to seek asylum. The only one to offer them shelter and a helping hand is the local farmer Cédric. The director captures his actions and follows him in everyday moments in which the world's political debates and a battle of fundamental philosophical ideas are reflected. This portrayal of a farmer whose life has been affected by world history, to which he reacts as best he can, is an inspirational demonstration of what an individual who is not afraid to help can change.
This film will be screened during the One world / Jeden svět festival.
