Flavours of Iraq
(France, 2018, 50 min)
De Leonard Cohen
When Feurat Alani first visited Iraq he was nine years old. At that time, in 1989, he came from his native Paris to a modern country and found his second home there. When he was 12, he was offered a car in exchange for his French shoes. From such personal memories, Léonard Cohen has compiled a book and later this series. He playfully discusses not only the conflicts in Iraq, but also quite ordinary things. Rather than presenting numbers and dates, the film leaves impressions and feelings. The authentic narrative gradually makes the viewer forget that it is an animated film, while also conveying impressions such as the flavour of apricot ice cream or the smell of gunpowder.
This film will be screened during the One world / Jeden svět festival.
