After several decades of communist rule in Poland, the creation of the first independent trade union marks a decisive turning point. This highly documented film revisits the decisive role played by the organization co-founded by Lech Walesa in the collapse of the Eastern Bloc, paving the way for the fall of the Wall in 1989. A part of Polish history told by Solidarnosc members, cameramen, a former member of the Polish Communist Party, as well as filmmaker Agnieszka Holland.
