Fragments of Folklore, a film triptych by young filmmakers from FAMU, FAMO and JAMU, offers a distinctive perspective on folklore. Three different artistic approaches explore moments when our actions leave an indelible mark and things change irrevocably. The filmmakers move beyond idyllic ideas of tradition and approach them with their own creative vision.
The film Goddess, inspired by a real-life phenomenon, takes viewers back to a world of ancient rituals and a mythical symbiosis with nature, where a fateful reconciliation is born.
The following drama, Wayside Shrine, unfolds against the backdrop of a wild traditional dance party in Strážnice and tells the tragic story of a love triangle between two brothers, from which a guilt emerges that can never be undone.
The programme concludes with the mysterious film Beyond the Fields, in which young Eliška becomes trapped in a mysterious pub filled with alcohol, traditional costumes and dancing. There, she must confront uncomfortable truths and the question of whether death is a definitive end or simply a new beginning.
Three films, three destinies and three ways of experiencing contemporary folklore through the themes of guilt, catharsis and the memory of the landscape.
