In a futuristic Shanghai, humans and sea creatures live in a fragile symbiosis. Shy ship engineer Stefan struggles to make his way through a ruthless corporate hierarchy that ignores his visionary ideas. But everything changes when Princess ChaO, daughter of King Neptune himself, the ruler of the seas, unexpectedly asks him to marry her. The couple suddenly finds themselves in the spotlight and on an emotional rollercoaster on a wild journey to find closeness, intimacy, and self-acceptance. Director Yasuhiro Aoki’s visually unrestrained and playfully humorous anime celebrated success at the Fantasia and Sitges festivals and was crowned with the Jury Prize at Annecy.
