De Mohamed Siam
It is a year after the revolution. Against the backdrop of a silenced citizenry's calls for the right to ultimate self-determination comes the very personal story of 15-year-old Amal, who stands side by side with her friends at the head of protests for a more just and freer Egypt. With the passing years, however, it is becoming ever clearer that even those who stand at the barricades with Amal are ignorant of the fact that an Egyptian woman cannot freely choose what to wear or how to spend her free time. As Amal grows up, she learns that finding a place in a society dominated by men will be at least as demanding as finding a new face for her country.
This film will be screened during the One world / Jeden svět festival.
